I used to love teaching since I was as young as primary 6. By the time, I helped up my brother in a small-scale junior tuition class. I enjoyed explaining something that I knew in a simple way, especially in mathematics. It's a great achievement when the little pupils nodded their head. That is how my passion for teaching developed. I couldn't deny that my dad's occupation as educator did contribute a little in shaping this ambition of mine.
I was pretty clear I would end up as a teacher in future, even though i did write I want to be a fire-woman once in essay during primary school. So, I studied and studied and keep on study for 23 years because I need to equip myself as much knowledge as I can in order to be a TEACHER.
Lucky me, I found a teaching position before I went off for PhD. I loved the job very much, where I could interact with more students in a more mature way *no discipline issue need to be handled* the entire working environment/ambient is young, energetic, healthy and less politics is involved. This determined me further to pursue my PhD.
3.5 years of PhD, I put my head down to complete a research in a very tiny room. I quite myself to think, to read and to write. Read..... Think..... Write..... and READ again.... This was the routine. It was a independent work, not much talking required. Slowly, it takes up my out-going and talkative personality.
Now, I have returned to my teaching workplace. I have a strange feeling to even think of going in front of the class and non-stop talking for 2-3 hours. I feel more comfortable to hide myself in a room and do my own research.
EM.... HOW now?
Hopefully I would be OK after some time.
